A myriad of emotions surged through me, overwhelming my senses. Joy and disbelief intertwined, making it impossible to find the right words to express the depth of my feeling. Alara, the sister I had lost and mourned, stood before me, her presence a balm to my wounded soul.

My heart thudded in my chest as I reached out, my trembling fingers brushing against Alara's face. I needed to make sure she was real, that this wasn't some figment of my imagination.

Tears poured from my eyes as I pulled her into a tight hug. Alara returned loving the embrace.

"Alara, it's really you," I whispered, my voice broken from my tears.

"I've missed you so much. I never stopped fighting for you."

Her eyes, once distant and unfamiliar, now sparkled with love and recognition. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing the sister I thought I had lost forever. We lay there, clinging to each other, the weight of our love washing over us.

Words didn't seem like they were enough, but I held onto her as tight as I could, as if trying to convey my love through the strength of my embrace.

"Welcome back, Alara," I whispered.

"I'm here now."

In that moment, nothing else mattered. All the pain, suffering, longing, dissolved into insignificance.

Until I remembered Myriel.

Panic flooded through me. Myriel's village, consumed by flames in the distance, crushed my heart again. The reunion with Alara was a precious gift, and it was all I thought I wanted. But my heart had opened up for another too. And she needed me.

“I’m sorry Alara, but I need your help.”

Alara's eyes widened as she looked into mine. She understood my feelings the way only a sister could.

Without wasting another moment, we took to the air. The flames danced like demons, illuminating the night sky. Fear began to grip my heart, but I pushed it aside, channeling my love for my growing love for Myriel into determination.

But it was fleeting. The devastation that greeted us dropped my gut with fear. The charred remains of buildings and the haunting silence whispered a heart wrenching tale of the battle that happened here. We were too late.

Desperately we searched for any signs of life. Navigating through the fire and bodies we eventually stumbled upon a survivor, their face etched with pain. A harpy with brown wings, one of which was broken. They were propping themselves up on a tree stump.

And they confirmed my worst fears - the Kaelik had attacked and taken Myriel with them.

My heart picked up its pace into a furious sprint, pounding into my ribcage. Two feelings isolated themselves in my mind.

Loneliness. And guilt.

I had lost her, and it was my fault. If only I had gone with her.

“Where!” I asked. My voice, so frantic that it came out as anger.

“I don't know. Their camp is hidden in the mountains somewhere.” They spoke with a defeated tone that only added to my building guilt.

“I’m sorry…” I managed.

Turning away, I ran the questions occupying my mind. What should I do? Should I search the mountains? What mountains, which direction?

“Sister.
